I've had an amazing time at the women's jiu jiutsu class these last few Sunday's with Kristi Ann. I was nervous about trying it out since the idea of fighting other people was a little daunting, but after two sessions I feel strong and eager to learn more. The ladies in the class are friendly and supportive. Do any other friends in the area want to come try this out? Sunday's at 4 pm in Purcellville for the women's class, many other options for kids and adult classes. Thanks, Joe, for encouraging me to try it out!

"My 5 yo daughter and 4yo son just started taking classes a couple of weeks ago with Kristi and Justin. We had a feeling our son would love it, but have been blown away by how much our daughter loves it! Every day they ask if it's time to go to jujitsu. And in just a few sessions, they are getting the hang of it!"

"I was nervous about trying a combative sport. In high school and college, the most athletic activity I ever did was marching band. I had no practical experience whatsoever, and I was afraid I was going to look like an absolute fool. I am so glad that I took a chance. Justin Lough Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is like a second home to me. I work ten hour shifts in the evening and take college classes in the morning, and even with my hectic schedule, I can still attend multiple classes; the availability is amazing and gives students the opportunity to train like a professional. In fact, one of my favorite things about JLBJJ is that students can gear their skills and training to what is important to them. Whether you want to pursue sport jiu-jitsu or self-defense, JLBJJ has the flexibility in the techniques taught and the times available. The instructor Justin is a fantastic teacher with over nine years of experience in BJJ. Additionally, he has knowledge of weight lifting and nutrition, so that when he designs workout plans for his students, he can address lots of aspects that affect training. Combining these different elements with the amazing techniques into one training program gives this school an edge over others in the area.
Overall, JLBJJ has great techniques and amazing people who support each other. The school is extremely welcoming, and I highly encourage everyone--guys and girls--to drop by and try it out. Self-defense is an invaluable skill, and jiu-jitsu has so much to offer, no matter your age. For me, I've noticed that training has helped reduce my testing anxiety. I used to sit down for tests, and the adrenaline would flood my system. I'd hear my heart pounding in my head, and my mind would go blank. Competition and rolling (aka sparring) got me used to that high energy feeling and has helped me develop relaxation strategies so that I can remain calm.
Jiu-jitsu is an effective martial art--arguably the best for women to learn because it capitalizes on leverage rather than raw strength--that teaches self-defense and improves self-confidence, mood, and health. It is wonderful, and I cannot think of a better place to learn than JLBJJ."
