Justin Lough, head instructor at JLBJJ, is a Black belt under his instructor and world class black belt Abmar Barbosa. He has dedicated the last 16 years of his life to training and living a Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle. In 2007, after recently meeting Abmar, Justin was offered an opportunity to train in Brazil with the Jiu-Jitsu phenom. A blue belt at the time, Justin knew he had to pursue this opportunity. While in Brazil, Justin trained with Abmar’s team six days week three times a day. Although each day was difficult, Justin was able to keep working toward his goal. Before leaving Brazil, Justin competed in the Sao Carlos Championships becoming the first American to visit, compete, and win gold in the Brazilian city. Over the last few years, Justin has instructed a wide variety of students including military special forces, police personnel, men, women and children from beginners to advanced levels. Justin has also given individual attention to students recovering and rehabilitating them post-surgery through Jiu-Jitsu workouts. In addition to his knowledge in Jiu-Jitsu, Justin has an excellent background in strength and conditioning which he incorporates into his classes. He continues to train hard and pass down the authentic Jiu-Jitsu style he was shown in Brazil and maintains a strong work ethic and competition level classes.
